ABOUT ME

The phrase "Rooms of Wonder" is an English derivation of the German word Wunderkammer, or "wonder chamber." Wonder chambers, or cabinets of curiosity, were the predecessors of modern museums. They held collections of oddities for the owner to marvel at and display for his peers. These personal collections became museums, like the British Museum in London and the Mütter Museum here in Philadelphia.

My experiences and love for history have been defined through rooms, from Bethlehem's Gemeinhaus to Colonial Williamsburg to Pittsburgh's Nationality Rooms. The act of walking through a doorway can transport you to times and places you'd never experience otherwise, even when a room is just a room full of old stuff.
I believe that the history all around us should be as accessible to the public as possible. So many view history as a boring compilation of dates of numbers, when that couldn't be further from the truth. By using slang common among 20-somethings, popular culture, and real stories from real historic people, even the most 'boring' period can be made relevant to life in the 21st century.
